Associate or Affiliate Member status does not confer or imply the Appraisal Institute's professional recognition for appraisal proficiency in any degree.
An Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute is an individual who engages in activity governed by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and who may be pursuing an Appraisal Institute professional membership designation. Associate members are required to abide by the Appraisal Institute's Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Affiliate members are individuals who are allied with the Appraisal Institute but are not performing any work governed by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Affiliate members may include bankers, institutional and government agency representatives and others.
